Kwartzlab Understanding of the Principles of Do-ocracy
By Gus
At Kwartzlab we first encountered the ideas of do-ocracy from Seth Hardy, one of the founders of HackTO who talked about the idea of do-ocracy used by the Burning Man community.
While there are many different codifications of this idea, these below represent a distillation of how we as a group keep moving forward.
First Principles:
-
Less talking and more doing
-
A thing done is better than something undone
-
No criticism of done things — move forward
-
When in doubt: Git ‘R’ Done!
Observations:
-
“Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good” Voltaire.
-
Your passion is your power.
Process is important for work that requires it. Do-ocracy is not anarchy or the acceptance of errors or failures because it is done first.
