Katherine Marchione is constantly dreaming about making something- whether it is a quilt, a painting, a dress or shoes. She always seem to be finishing one project only to start two more.
Oil painting responds to her in a way that other mediums do not, they have a mind of their own and seem to move only in the way they want to. You have to be adaptive and free minded to work with them. She loves the textures and flow to oil painting, it helps her organize her thoughts and apply them to canvas. Oil paintings lend themselves toward landscape paintings, as the flow of a landscape allows for the flow of oils.
Katherine hash been painting for about 5 years now and there are still some aspects she finds challenging, but finds waterfalls to be the most majestic and wonderful things to paint.
Join us for an evening of oil painting with Katherine on Saturday, March 1st from 5-8 pm. We will be painting along with Katherine, to this Bob Ross style painting (the picture below will be replicated in class). All materials are included in the class fee.
$15 members, $20 non-members
Reserve your spot on the Eventbrite page: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/bob-ross-paint-along-with-katherine-marchione-tickets-10638408767

Meet Meg. She has a background in interior design, works part-time for Manulife Insurance, but finds her passion in doing creative things. She took a trip to Philadelphia in 2010 for a mosaic workshop with her 2 teenage boys and hasn’t stopped tiling since! Meg is currently working on a community art mosaic wall for the House of Friendship that will be composed of people’s hands that they have tiled during one of her “before-hand” workshops (see photo below).

The final event in the Handmade Holiday Christmas Series took place at the lab this evening with something we called WRAP IT UP!
A group of eager crafters created their own gift wrap, tags and bows. We had tons of craft supplies on hand…everything from scissors, tape, ribbon, punches, adhesives of every type, paint, continuous rollers, stamps, paper, and a couple fantastic Silhouette machines! Special thanks to Jen and Danielle of In Paper Dreams for assisting in all their craftiness!
Loved all the great things everyone made, and the creative energy in the air from our group. Thanks to all who attended!
I’ve seen so many continuous roller ideas on Pinterest, it was time to try them out for ourselves. We use a lint roller and pre-cut foam snowflake shapes with craft paint.
