Kwartzlab is getting a laser cutter

By

It’s official, Kwartzlab is getting a laser cutter!

I’m pleased to announce that Kwartzlab has received a $6000 grant from
the Creative Enterprise Enabling Organization for the full cost of
buying a new laser cutter. The CEEO board liked our application: they
approved it unanimously, and said that this is the type of project
they want to fund.

The Record: Local arts get financial shot in the arm

We are getting an 80W laser cutter with a 24″ x 36″ work area, similar
to the one that Site3 has, except bigger. It is a very versatile tool
for arts, crafts and technical work. It can cut or engrave paper,
cardboard, foamcore, plywood, plastics, leather and textiles. It can
engrave coated metals (incl. anodized aluminum), marble and glass.

The laser is a key tool for our makerspace. It’s a powerful tool that
few people have access to, and it will attract new members to our
space.
