The awesome people at the Working Centre in Kitchener have donated a much improved computer to the 3D printer project. It runs Ubuntu, which is required for some RepRap software (like the current version of RepSnapper). And it has all the chops needed to run Blender, and other 3D modelling programs. [64 bit Athlon processor, 2GB ram, 512MB ATI Radeon video card]
Note that we can’t run Google Sketchup any more (it’s Windows only). However, Blender has an easier to use UI as of version 2.59, and Art Of Illusion is also said to have a friendly user interface.
Big thanks to the people at the Working Centre for donating this equipment and helping to advance the project.
