Also, I found that the PIC goes into a reset loop when the voltage dips under 4 volts and starts drawing current.

That’s a good thing for continuity while filming.

Curious why you included the 7805 versus just running from 3 button cells at 4.5V. Is the 12F629 pretty fussy about its Vcc range? Been a while since I used PICs.
