Mitch Altman and Jimmie Rodgers came by kwartzlab tonight on their maker space tour of the mid-west. They brought tons of cool kits to show. We bought ‘em up and got right to the soldering. For the new folks, Mitch gave a great intro to electronics and soldering basics. Great turnout and a fun night. Thanks a lot, guys!

I picked up a Trippy RGB LED kit.

Nice kit. All through-hole parts. Nice PCB. Good assembly instructions online.

15 minutes of solder later: ta da! I like how this kit employs an IR emitter and detector so reflections, from say the wave of a hand, can affect the flashing pattern on the RGB LED. Interactive == good.
