Mitch Altman and Jimmie Rodgers at kwartzlab!
By DW
Mitch Altman and Jimmie Rodgers came by kwartzlab tonight on their maker space tour of the mid-west. They brought tons of cool kits to show. We bought ‘em up and got right to the soldering. For the new folks, Mitch gave a great intro to electronics and soldering basics. Great turnout and a fun night. Thanks a lot, guys!
More after the break…
Cool chain of Trippy RGB Waves Kits
Jimmie’s LOL Shield for Arudino.
If you had fun tonight, thank this guy, Ben Brown, for setting up the event! Go Ben!
LED cube hack of Adafruit’s mini-POV.
And an unhacked MiniPOV.
You may know Mitch as the inventor of the TV-B-Gone. Turn TV’s off everywhere with one click!
Blinkenlights: the new communal campfire. Gather ’round.
Electronics 101 with Mitch.
I picked up a Trippy RGB LED kit.
Nice kit. All through-hole parts. Nice PCB. Good assembly instructions online.
15 minutes of solder later: ta da! I like how this kit employs an IR emitter and detector so reflections, from say the wave of a hand, can affect the flashing pattern on the RGB LED. Interactive == good.
Happy making,
DW
