Site 3 kickoff fieldtrip

This is how many new creative work spaces begin: beer + talking. Our good friends Seth Hardy and Alex Leitch are kicking off the Site 3 Colaboratory in T.O. So Gus, Ben, Bevan, and I jumped in the car and headed to the city to support their kick-off meeting this evening.

maker shopping: this time at Eftston Science on Dufferin just south of the 401.

and fresnel lens fun-house faces.

This blew me away: $1K for a parabolic mic. Wow. I did some work early last year spinning plaster in bowls to create parabaloid molds to cast a reflector for just such a mic. This price tag spurs my interest in rekindling that project. You could drop a lot of cash in this store, but it’s definitely worth the stop. They have a lot of cool stuff.
