kwartzlab to the UW Critical Media Lab
By DW
Tonight, a bunch of us visited the UW Critical Media Lab to chat with Marcel Gorman who is the director of crimelab and an associate professor with UW. Marcel had contacted us about mashing up some crimelab students with our makers and that sounded awesome to us. We talked a bit at Culture Camp on Saturday and decided to continue the discussion Monday night when his students would be screening their final projects on the giant video screens atop city hall.
More after the break…
Scott Stevens did this video of an eye, that, when viewed from the corner of the building, had this massively cool effect of some sort of giant concrete behemoth hunching over us.
Marcel and Eric trying to get a word in edgewise with Gustavo.
Da boys.
I was there, too
Shades of Francis Bacon’s pope series Hey Darcy!
Students over there, kwartzlabbers over here… ok, well, it’s a start. Joking, of course: these are the departing students.
All signs point toward GO! for this collaboration.
This was colder than it looks.
Downtown Kitchener is cool.
as…
is…
this…
building.
While at crimelab tonight, we also met/chatted/drank beer with Gordon Hatt, Executive Director of CAFK+A.
So the net out of the night was:
- new friends
- 2010-01-26 – tentative party date at kwartzlab to meet-and-greet with students
- 2010-01-24 – tentative date to install my Animeyes piece in the CML window fronting on King St. Massive!
Happy making,
DW
