Waterloo City Council intro to kwartzlab + Ignite Waterloo planning
By DW
Hey makers!
My presentation to Waterloo City Council went very well this evening. Eric and James were out to support me (thanks guys!). And thanks to Lisa and Nat for the rehearsal opportunities and feedback. I think council got the concept and value proposition. A very strong first-impression for us. We spent a half hour out in the hallway afterward talking with John Jung (CEO, Canada’s Technology Triangle), who also presented tonight, and he is interested in helping us connect with various groups that may be able to help with resources we need (tools | money). He’s committed to setting up a speaking opportunity for me with a select group of people who may be interested in supporting kwartzlab. Sweet!
On the way home, I stopped by Williams (yes, that Williams) to drop in on the Ignite Waterloo event planning meeting. It was good to hear some of their discussion as I prepare for that talk in Nov. Chatted with Joseph Fung who, among other things, is hooked up with Communitech. Joseph is interested in helping us to connect to various resources and has talked to Iain (Klugman?) at Communitech about kwartzlab. That support is much appreciated.
Check out and register (coming soon) for the Ignite Waterloo event. It sounds like a really cool line up of local speakers and the 5-minute, 15 sec/slide format should be interesting. I expect tickets will go fast in the initial round of 100, so watch the tweets.
Happy making,
DW

That’s fantastic news, DW! Well done.
