met up at the lab today with Brett and Asha Stephens who travelled all the way from TXRX in Houston to visit us (and possibly Asha’s family in Guelph).
So we had a great chat about all things hackish.
Brett and Asha brought us this cool 3D printout of a stormtrooper helmet as a token of friendship. They printed it out on TXRX’s new MakerBot.
They also brought show-and-tell: here’s a printed box of sorts that slides together with a twist. Sweet.
Thanks a lot to Brett and Asha for making time to come and see us. It’s great to meet up in our space and talk shop. You’re always welcome at kwartzlab.
Paint prep continued after the visit. We moved all the stuff into the middle of the work room to free up the walls for painting.
Mudding and sanding work moved on to the lounge (hi Jessica!)
but no more right here.
Even the broken windows get cleaned, ’cause we really don’t know how long it will take to get them replaced.
Steph was rocking the vacuum.
All the material and furniture shuffling has left the lounge a little… crowded.
Painting tools at the ready.
Primer and paint at the ready. By the time I’ve posted this, the kwartzlabbers who stayed through the day have made it part way through laying down the second coat of primer.
Discovered these cool origami fastener holders tucked away on one of the work benches. That’s genius.
