Blinky Lights

By

So the Soldering Workshop (hosted by DW and prepared/presented by DW, James and Andrew) was way more fun than I’d even expected, and I got to walk away with a blinky light thingy (complete with battery pack to light it up).

I’ve done some soldering before, with jewellery, but haven’t done anything involving electronics, so while the soldering itself wasn’t a huge challenge for me, making sure everything was wired right and soldered securely kept me on my proverbial toes. I’m sure that DW got a picture of me glaring over my glasses at the circuit board, my tongue stuck out in concentration.

Steph took tonnes of pictures that I hope to see soonish, of the workshop in progress and close-ups of the work itself – once we learned to solder wires together (as practice), we were each given a Wee Blinky kit to assemble.

Thanks for putting together such a fab workshop, guys! As DW pointed out, this should be our last “outside” workshop – from now on we should be able to hold them at the hackerspace itself. :)
